Q1. How do I dial using Tata Indicom Net Telephony?

Ans.:
  • Download the Tata Indicom Softphone from the Installer CD or visit the Download section of www.internet.vsnl.in to download the softphone
  • Login to the Softphone with the User Name and Password selected during the registration.
  • Enter the desired number
  • Click on dial to proceed

Q2. How do I log into the dialer?

Ans.: When you register your pack, you will select a User Name and Password. Use the same to log in to the dialer

Q3. What are the minimum requirements for using Net Telephony?

Ans.: Basic system requirements are as mentioned below
  • Windows 98/NT/2000/XP operating system
  • Pentium 166 MHz processor
  • JavaScript is enabled
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 to 6.0 or Netscape Communicator 4.5 to 4.7 & 6.1
  • 64 MB of RAM
  • 15 MB of free hard disk space
  • sound card
  • SVGA display card with 256 colors (16-bit color recommended)
  • Microphone & speakers, or headset
  • 28.8 kbps modem (33.6 kbps recommended)
  • Internet access from any Internet Service Provider (ISP) with a minimum of 33.6 Kbps (56 Kbps recommended)

Q4.Your installation CD is not running on my PC. How do I get the Softphone?

Ans.: Please logon to www.internet.vsnl.in, get into the Download section and click on the Tata Indicom Softphone to install the same onto your computer. There are two versions available on the web.

Q5. What is audio tuning wizard?

Ans.: An audio tuning wizard is a tool to help you adjust your speaker and microphone settings at the right levels for best experience while making a Net Telephony call.

Q6. Can I change my 'Calling Plan' once I register?

Ans.: Yes, you can change the calling plans anytime by logging into the My Account section. For more details, please refer to the Tariff Plan related FAQs below.

Q7. How can I check my call records?

Ans.: You can check your call records from the softphone as well as the website.
To check the details from the softphone, click on usage details in the account section. You will be able to see details of the last 10 calls.

To check the details on the internet (for the Light version), log in to "My Account" and click on usage details.

Q8. How can I improve the sound quality for my PC-to-Phone calls?

Ans.: Adjust the audio settings to the appropriate levels with help of the audio tuning wizard.

Q9. How can I uninstall the Softphone?

Ans.: Click on Start>Programs>Tata Indicom Softphone > Uninstall Tata Indicom Softphone, to uninstall the Softphone.

Q10. How do I improve the sound quality?

Ans.: Following are some recommendations that may help improve the sound quality of your calls.Use a high-quality full-duplex sound card, and be sure you are using the latest drivers (check with the sound card manufacturer). Use the fastest Internet connection possible. Close as many browser windows and applications as possible.
